From 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on March 15 of this year, three librarians throughout the City of La Paz, America Pineda, Justina Pacheco and Jorge Chaleco, shared their time and dedication with the children of Fundacion Ayuda Niños La Paz, A.C., (FANLAP).  This activity was coordinated by Joanna Ramos from the Sudcalifornia Institute of Cultura (ISC), as part of their program of Child Cultural Development ¨Alas y Raices¨ (Wings and Roots).

The Public Library of the Children of La Paz was one of the libraries with the privilege of participating in this project which promotes values.  In that vein, prior to painting the mural, the children played and listened to a story in which they reflected on those values they wished to develop in themselves and others.

Thirty-one children of FANLAP between the ages of 6 and 12, all of whom regularly attend our library and dining room, participated in the painting of this mural which will be presented, with murals from other libraries of the State of Baja California Sur, at difference events of the ISC in the near future.
Thank-you to ISC for providing these deserving children an opportunity to show the world…well, our part of the world…their internal beauty.  Thank you to Julia Magallones, FANLAP librarian, for helping to bring out the best of the children of FANLAP.
Below is one side of the mural which ¨our kids¨ painted to demonstrate their values.
