Stella Cucina Alforno & Beach Club, the new restaurant located on the corner of the Malecon and Marquez de Leon had the honor of hosting the Baja Ha-Ha Welcome to La Paz Beach Party on Thursday, November 17th, 2011 starting at 4:00pm.  Hundreds of Baja Ha-Ha cruisers, who have made the journey along the Baja from the U.S. attended this special event to welcome them to La Paz.

Also in attendance were local cruisers who now call home one of the local marinas in the city as well as local ex-pat landlubbers who came to welcome the newest visitors to La Paz.

The Director of Tourism for the Municipality of La Paz, Pedro Alberto Aguilar Bazua said that his department, in conjunction with the Secretary of Tourism, Emprhotur and local businesses which included Ecobajatour, Marina La Paz, Marina Costa Baja, Club Cantamar, Ross Marine Services and Stella Cucina Alforno & Beach Club, are honored to welcomed the new cruisers to the city and feels that this type of event, with entertainment including local folkloric dance and music from local mariachi and rock bands, promotes La Paz’s cultural activities, folklore and a chance for the new visitors to try local gastronomy.

Aguilar Bazua feels that for the tourism industry, cruisers represent a very important market group for the city and that this group has the potential to increase.  He hopes that they can take advantage of those who enjoy the Sea of Cortez in bringing more tourists to enjoy the city of La Paz in the future.

The Baja Ha-Ha is one of the largest cruiser festivals in North American. It is a safe and entertaining way for hundreds of cruisers to head down to the warmer climates of Baja California Sur while at the same time make new friends.  The cruising event, on its 18th year, left San Diego on October 26th and arrived in Cabo San Lucas on November 6th, 2011.
