  • Work has started on rebuilding Belizario Dominguez

The Secretary of Urban Planning, Infrastructure and Ecology for the State Government, Salvador Perez Ramirez, announced the start of the reconstruction of the street Belizario Domínguez along the stretch from 16 de September and 5 de Mayo.

He said that the execution of this work aims to improve the conditions of the street and to better the image that La Paz seeks for itself and in particular for the downtown area in terms of promoting tourism.

Perez Ramirez pointed out that the current administration has developed similar activities in San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, reviving historic areas with more infrastructure and quality services. Both major cities in BCS need infrastructure improvement and that is what the government plans to continue to do during its term.

The Urban Planning Secretary said they are hoping to cause as little inconvenience as possible to downtown businesses that are in the area and more specifically to those on Belizario Dominguez. However, he also said that these works are a commitment to provide modern and quality infrastructure that the public and in this particular case, a large number of businesses, can enjoy in the future.

He stressed the importance of the work done on this street, as it is located in the economic center of the city. The street was in poor condition. The pavement was full of potholes and the infrastructure for portable water and sewer need to be replaced.

Construction has already started on Belizario Dominguez. The street has been torn up, just in time for the busy Christmas rush. The government official stated that they would work as quickly as possible to have the infrastructure replaced and the street repaved as they are concerned about causing stress in the congested downtown area during the high traffic season.
