We are very pleased to announce the beginning of the professional orchestra “Orquesta Filarmonica De Baja California Sur” located here in La Paz.  The orchestra is a dream made true thanks to the work of a private foundation and sponsored by the State of Baja California Sur, the Sudcalifornia Institute of Culture, the Municipal Government of La Paz, the School of Music of BCS, the Concert Hall of La Paz ¨SCON¨ and  CONACULTA

The orchestra is composed of over 40 musicians from Cuba, Mexico, Spain and United States of America.  Conducted by Armando Torres Chibras from Mexico City.  The first performance will be at “Teatro De La Ciudad” March 21, 2015 at 8:00 PM.  For “A Night with Beethoven and Rachmaninov”.  You will be amazed listening to the in-depth beauty of a perfectly tuned orchestra. Armando Torres Chibras is by far one of the best conductors in Mexico.  La Paz should feel very fortunate having him as our conductor. The first impression listening to a rehearsal it that this group is magic, music played by precise professional musicians on a scale you will never forget.   We suggest you get your tickets soon at the theater box office.

The Orquesta Filarmonica Fundation has private benefactors contributing to not just the orchestra but adding cultural education for local Baja musicians. Thus the orquesta is creating opportunities for the people of La Paz and the entire State of Baja California Sur as well as adding cultural entertainment to state residents and to visitors.

The foundation is providing a path for benefactors interested in promoting musical culture for young and inspired musicians by donating their time and finances for the growth of our community. If interested in becoming a benefactor, please contact Gary Batha at
