La Paz has the eyes of the world admiring her.

“Our municipality is on display for the world to enjoy with this invaluable opportunity to promote our culture and tourist attractions,” La Paz Mayor Esthela Ponce Beltran announced at the opening of the visual arts exhibit

“La Paz, Baja California Sur. Land of Prosperity”. The exhibit is on display now in the exhibition room in Terminal One of the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City.

Accompanied by airport authorities, Congresswoman María del Carmen López Segura, Embassadors from Pakistan and Egypt and the Director of Tourism for La Paz, Pedro Aguilar Bazua, the mayor was more than grateful for the opportunity to share works of La Paz to the world.

Also on hand to celebrate was La Paz native Joselyn Garciglia Bañuelos, Nuestra Belleza México 2013, who will represent Mexico at the Miss Universe pageant.

During the inauguration, Mayor Ponce Beltran highlighted the changes that the municipality of La Paz has made to benefit both residents and visitors to the city.  Through the visual arts exhibit of La Paz, the mayor said, we can demonstrate how proud we are of our rich cultural, which is part of our heritage that we want to share with the world and preserve for our future generations.

Ponce Beltran also thanked airport authorities for their extraordinary collaboration in organizing the monumental project for La Paz and hoped that other projects could be planned for the future. She also recognized the work of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura of La Paz and Director Matilde Cervantes Navarrete.

The exhibition displays the works of recognized artists such as painters Rafael Chávez and Oralia Lugo as well as sculptors Benito Ortega, Efrén Olalde, Felipe Sánchez, Francisco Gómez, Octavio González and Salvador Rocha.  The art exhibit will be open the months of November and December and will be seen by the millions of air travelers of one of the world’s busiest airports.
