With the presence of State Secretary of Tourism, Ruben Reachi Lugo, La Paz Mayor Esther Ponce Beltrán and President and CEO of Hotel City Express Mr. Luis Barrios, the hotel chain City Express opened its doors on the afternoon of May 28 on the Malecon of La Paz, located just beside Marina Palmira.

Hotels City is a leader in the hotel chain segment of economy travel in Mexico.  It opened La Paz’s newest hotel in order to meet the growing demand for accommodation for tourists and business travelers visiting the city.  Its strategic location and competitive rates place it as one of the best lodging options in the city.

Secretary Reachi Lugo emphasized the strategic location of the newest investment to La Paz saying, “It is very close to the beach with several of the rooms overlooking the sea which is very attractive for tourists. This hotel is also part of a hotel chain which means the hotel is part of a globalizing booking system which will give La Paz exposure and promotion to many new, interesting tourist markets in the country as well as internationally.”

Rubén Reachi continued, “City Express is adding another 125 hotel rooms in La Paz, both for the business traveler and for the leisure traveler, because of the confidence of investors. More and more, national chains are looking at La Paz to expand their business and make investments. The Governor has asked me to convey to investors that Baja California Sur is hungry for this type of investment, as they are very responsible investments.”

“We are pleased with the new job creation. The opening of this new hotel gives us one tool in promoting and selling La Paz to the rest of the country as well as internationally. It also shows that trust has been placed once again by the tourism sector in our state for healthy investment.”

Meanwhile Mr. Barrios, CEO of Hotels City thanked government officials for their efforts in the process of the development and implementation of the hotel in the city.  “City Express La Paz is the first property of Hotels City in the state. It will not be the only one. In December of this year, we will open two more hotels: City Express and City Suites Los Cabos,” he announced.

Finally Reachi Lugo highlighted the investment of nearly 93 million pesos and job creation that City Hotels is generating in La Paz, and reiterated the government’s support for the hotel chain to continue investing in the various destinations in Baja California Sur. He also said the state government will continue promoting and supporting investments in the tourist sector that are environmentally friendly and that create jobs and improve standards of living for citizens.

The main services offered to hotel guests include a breakfast buffet, high speed internet in all areas of the hotel and transportation within a 10 km radius at no additional cost.
