The always popular Historic Home Tour of Todos Santos returns on Sunday, March 16th with a spectacular array of the old homes representing the rich history of our region.   The unique brick buildings of Todos Santos have been continually occupied for a century or more, dating back to the times of the trapiches, the sugar mills, and of a period of great prosperity for this town.   Several of the buildings on the tour have been remodeled and are presently being used as hotels and restaurants, and many of them as beautiful homes.  Our return visitors will be excited to know that there are several new buildings on this year’s tour.

This is a Palapa Society event with proceeds going to support our building fund project.

You will meet some of our BECA students who will be assisting on this tour.  The BECA program at the Palapa Society provides scholarships for over 90 students for high school and for University in La Paz.    It is such a pleasure to see students who have continued through the program, maintaining GPA’s of 8.5 or above and contributing their time to assisting in Palapa Society events, now graduating in careers such as education and architecture.

These young people are coming full circle with the understanding and ability to give their knowledge and talents back to the community that has nurtured and supported them.  When you meet these young people who assist you on the tours you will recognize their level of dedication to continue with their education.

Tickets for this historic home tour can be reserved on line at thepalapasociety@yahoo.com or can be purchased at Hotel Casa Tota on the day of the event between 9:30 am and 2:00 pm for 250 pesos.   Guided tours are available in Spanish or English by reservation only.

Many thanks to local artist Brent Gearan for his painting on this year’s home tour poster.

We at the Palapa Society thank-you all for your continued support.  We know that our future is our youth!   And we know that their future is their education.   And with the support of our patrons and volunteers we all help to make this a strong community.
