A magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit Tuesday afternoon near Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. The temblor struck 47 miles north of La Paz, Mexico at 4:45 p.m, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Governor Marcos Covarrubias Villaseñor declared at a press conference later that evening that classes will be suspended on September 26th in the State of BCS to “inspect all schools and educational facilities at all levels.” The government however, will operate as normal. This was a preventative measure as there has been no reports of any damage.
